Abuja, Dec 14th 2012. Taiwo Bankole Ogunyemi popularly known at NYCC as Tiawo-warri was born on May 1, 1985, and grew up in Oshodi, Lagos. He studied Chemical and Polymer engineering at Lagos State University. In 2008, his Industrial attachment at the NNPC took him to Warri, Delta State. His stay there was life changing. It sparked in him a dream for changing the image of Warri, a city in the Niger Delta region.
The late Bankole Taiwo was part of the team that lead the first ever youth-led and BNRCC funded research on "Climate Change Perception Among Youth in the Niger Delta" through his Visionaries Academy that he founded. He was also very instrumental at the 2012 350.org Africa Climate Leaders Workshop in Lagos, where he lead his team to show case the issues of ecological degradation in the Niger Delta. Taiwo was very passionate about the Niger Delta, though he was not born there, he believed that he was there for a mission. He will never be forgotten and his vision lives on.
